“Guardian” was born out of a very personal moment – marked by a feeling of protection and vulnerability after a near life-threatening situation.

The black and white works explore movements such as condensation, opening, and release, inspired by natural processes—as well as plants that close up for protection and then unfold again. I translate these dynamics into reduced, abstract forms. My background in sculpture also plays an important role. Through contrasts and clear edges, a spatial, almost sculptural effect is created on the canvas. Thus, the works consciously move between painting and sculpture.
